How We Started
CHANCE Children’s Home was founded on March 3, 1996, by Trudy and Danny Howell as a response to the growing need for a safe and nurturing environment for vulnerable children. As a registered Non-Profit Organization (NPO), CHANCE focuses on providing comprehensive care for children aged 2-18 years, ensuring their rights are upheld and their well-being prioritised.
What We Do
The home offers refuge to children who are orphaned, neglected, abused, battered, or otherwise in need of care and protection as decided by the children’s court of South Africa. With the goal of helping these children reach their highest potential, CHANCE offers a range of essential services, including shelter, nutritious meals, clothing, education, spiritual guidance, therapeutic interventions, developmental and life skills programs, sports, and recreation.

A Word
From The Centre Manager
As the Centre Manager of CHANCE Children’s Home, my heart will always be for the children, no matter their backgrounds or where they come from. Each child carries a story, and it is our mission to walk alongside them, offering love, care, and the opportunities they deserve.
At CHANCE, our vision is to create a safe and nurturing home where every child can grow, dream, and believe in a brighter future. Our mission is to provide not only shelter and education but also the emotional support and life skills that empower each child to thrive beyond their circumstances.
I hold close to my heart the belief that, “As long as I am able to leave an imprint in a child’s life, I have achieved greatness.” This is not just a quote, but the guiding truth that shapes every decision and action I take in service of these precious lives.
For me, it will always be about giving children more than just a home, it’s about giving them hope.
Thank you for standing with us on this journey of hope and transformation. Together, we are changing lives and building a future where every child can thrive.”
